Janelle & Jeremiah // Engagement Session in Franklinton, OH
I’ve known Jeremiah for a few years…probably about eight or nine years honestly. That makes me feel a little old but that makes him and OLD FRIEND. I love old friends. So, when their inquiry popped into my inbox my first thought was, YAY Jeremiah is getting married. My second thought was, OH CRAP THEY ARE GETTING MARRIED IN YOSEMITE?!?!?!?! This is where I started to straight freak out. Dreams truly do come true. They were still figuring out all the details so we made a plan to officially meet at a friends wedding I so happened to be photographing. Win win in my book.
When I met Janelle, I knew I wanted to photograph their wedding. She is literally the coolest human you’ll ever meet. I guess they both are! When we were planning their engagement they decided that they wanted something completely opposite from their wedding day so we went urban. My absolute favorite Columbus Urban location has to be Franklinton! Am I right??? This is where the idea to grab some brews, wander the streets, and then catch the lights over Scioto Mile came to mind. And boy was this a win!
How They Met
We met like a lot of couples do in this day and age, via an online dating site. Jeremiah had given up on this particular site, and I wasn't meeting anyone worthwhile, when I came across his profile. Something about his photo stopped me in my tracks. After looking through his profile I saw that we had a lot in common, so I messaged him. After a week or two of messaging back and forth we decided to meet.
Our first date was at Pies and Pints, followed by drinks and games at a local arcade bar. Jeremiah was heading to Texas for two weeks with the Army, so we fit 3 dates into the first week of meeting.
Over the next 3 years we've had countless date nights, multiple trips around the US and abroad, and now we're about to embark on the next big adventure.
The proposal was a complete surprise on an ordinary Monday evening. Jeremiah and I were both off work and he asked if I wanted to do a date night. For the last couple years I had been wanting to go back to the same spots we visited on our first date, and he was finally on board!
We got into the car and Jeremiah realized that he had forgotten his phone inside. Little did I know, he was setting things up....
We got dinner at Pies and Pints, and then headed to the arcade bar where we got the same drink as our first date and played the same games. When we got home I noticed something on the kitchen floor. It took me a minute to realize that it was rose petals leading into the bedroom. When I got to the bedroom there were sparkly letters laying out on the bed saying, "Will you marry me?" When I turned around Jeremiah was behind me, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. (I could tell he was nervous because his voice was super serious!)
I was so caught off guard that I didn't even look at the ring and just stared at him. Finally I said yes and looked down to see the most stunning ring on my finger! A ring that he had designed himself and was exactly what I never knew I wanted.
Thank you to all the friends and family who have been so supportive of us over the last three years. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
