Cassidy & Chad | Engagement Session at Dills Greenhouse
I was recently at a wedding when I saw my husbands Aunt and Uncle! I ran up to them wondering how they know the Bride or the Groom. Turns out they were family. Small world? That’s Columbus for you. It’s the Biggest Smallest Town EVER. I LOVE IT.
Daniel and I were offering Mini Sessions and that Bride let Cassidy’s mom know and the next thing I know, we are taking photos of these two love birds. And it was so much fun. They let us drag them to all the random spots we could think of and we LOVED every minute of it. Now we get to shoot their wedding NEXT YEAR! We are so excited.
Check out their photos below and read a little about their love story!
How They Met | Proposal Story
TOLD BY CASSIDY: Chad and I met during our sophomore year of high school at a track meet, where we were both participating. We had been attending the same school, but had never crossed paths. We exchanged laughs and phone numbers, and while I was at an overnight youth group event later that night, Chad stayed up all night texting me. Just five days later, a friend jokes in the hallway between classes, asking Chad when he was going to ask me to be his girlfriend, so he chose that exact moment to ask. So (not) romantic! The first time I brought Chad home, at 15 years old, my mom told me I was going to marry him and I thought she was crazy because we were so young, but I guess mom’s truly are always right.
Five years later, we had managed to navigate the long distance relationship we took on by choosing colleges two hours away from each other. We worked through the ups and downs of living more than a few minutes away from each other and raising our sweet pup, Lily, that lives with Chad (he claims she’s his, but she likes me better).
July 20, 2018, after a little over five years, Chad asked me to be his wife. I took him to New York to meet and stay with my family members who live there and we took a day trip into New York City, because he had never been before. We visited Top of the Rock, an observation deck with a breathtaking view of the city, as well as the Empire State Building. Chad asked a girl we had never seen before to take our photo, which she did, but he asked her to take just one more. He got down on one knee right there! I couldn’t contain my excitement, which increased when we returned to my aunt and uncle’s house to find an engagement party, because they had known the whole time!
TOLD BY CHAD: In high school we both were on the track and field team and met at the Panther Invitational. She was hanging out with some mutual friends and I decided to head over and hang out with them just to meet her. We ended up taking some pictures so we “had” to exchange numbers to send each other the pictures. From there we started talking and texting 24/7 and a week later we were dating. Not long after I knew she was the one for me.
Fast forward five years we are in New York visiting her family and spend a day in the city. After seeing time square, doing a Rickshaw tour around Central Park and eating lunch at the Sugar Factory, we went to Rockefeller Center’s observation deck called top of The Rock. Once we had taken in the sights and got a few selfies in we asked a young lady to take our picture. I asked her to take a few more before she could hand back the phone, which made her a little annoyed until she saw me get down on one knee. I then asked Cassidy if she would marry me? To which she responded “yes” and in that moment she made me the happiest person in the world.
